I finally made the leap and started Teacher's College. It has been a busy week. Today was our first class in Teaching Digital Learners in the Digital Age. I went back to school as a mature student ten years ago and was sometimes in tears when it came to working on the computer, but I managed to get through it all. As I completed my Bachelor and Master of Arts I became pretty quick on the computer or so I thought! Then I started this course today. It shouldn't be too bad, right? I stepped out of my comfort zone into a zone that will be beneficial to me as an educator. The first class wasn't really that bad; although there were a few times when I was lost in class. I cannot type fast so I was a bit behind on answering questions.I made it through the class okay, I think?!! At the end of class we were shown how to create a blog. I started to create mine but felt overwhelmed so I waited until now to finish it up. I did it! I was so apprehensive about it but feel good knowing that I conquered it on my own!
I was excited to take home some new terms and ideas when it comes to digital learners like "Genius Hour". I found this to be an awesome concept for the classroom. I am passionate about students being creative, expressing their own ideas and opinions. We need to value what kids have to say and really see how smart, talented and passionate they can be.
A look at Genius Hour
I LOVE your positive attitude Connie! It really comes through in your writing. I'm definitely looking forward to future posts and blog developments! Keep up the good work. :)
